I think what makes OKC so unique is that while it has that sort of "wild west" heritage of cowboys and "Indian" culture, today it is a modern city that like Houston and Dallas, has become a vibrant and thriving destination in recent years. This gives it a great blend of places to visit for a guys getaway, such as the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, the American Banjo Museum, or the RIVERSPORT Rapids & Adventure ... but also some amazing foodie destinations like Cattlemen's Steakhouse and  Iron Star Urban Barbeque or Empire Slice House.

The city also has a vibrant food truck and foodie festival scene including hosting the Texas Food Fest "Oklahoma Edition" where you can get some tasty treats without even having to head down south to the neighboring "Lone Star State". Don't worry though, while dining out at festivals and food trucks can be less sanitary sometimes than eating at restaurants, Oklahoma City experienced a lower number of E. coli outbreaks between 2011 and 2021 than it has in the past.

Overall, Oklahoma City offers a diverse culinary scene that caters to every palate, making it a great destination for a guys' trip. From smoky BBQ joints to upscale dining, here are the top seven places to eat while exploring the city!

Cattlemen's Steakhouse

Located in the historic Stockyards City, Cattlemen's Steakhouse is a legendary spot that has been serving some of the best steaks in Oklahoma City since 1910. The atmosphere is classic with a touch of Old West charm, making it perfect for a hearty dinner. Don't miss the house specialty, the "Presidential T-Bone," named after a visit from President George H.W. Bush.

Nic's Grill

For those who crave a genuine burger experience, Nic's Grill offers a no-frills, dive atmosphere with some of the juiciest burgers in town. This small diner-style spot gets crowded quickly, so be prepared to wait, but the reward is well worth it. The Garlic Burger is a must-try, featuring a heap of juicy beef and layers of roasted garlic on top.

The Mule

Located in the Plaza District, The Mule is the go-to place for hot melts and cold beer. The quirky decor and lively atmosphere make it a fun spot for dinner or a late-night snack. The "Macaroni Pony" is their signature dish, which includes mac 'n' cheese and chipotle BBQ pulled pork sandwiched between toasted jalapeño cornbread.

The Jones Assembly

The Jones Assembly is an innovative restaurant and concert venue all rolled into one, providing a unique dining and entertainment experience. Located on Film Row, this spot offers a sophisticated menu with a Southern twist. Iron Star Urban Barbeque

Iron Star Urban Barbeque combines refined Southern cuisine with the rustic appeal of traditional BBQ. It's a great place for those who appreciate a gourmet twist on classic dishes. Be sure to try the "St. Louis Ribs," smoked to perfection and slathered in Iron Star’s signature BBQ sauce.

Empire Slice House

For a casual night out, Empire Slice House in the Plaza District offers New York-style pizza with an inventive twist. The funky, graffiti-decorated space is ideal for a relaxed evening. Order the "Fungus Among Us," a pizza loaded with shiitake, button, and portobello mushrooms, drizzled with a balsamic reduction.
