# Guys Getaway Ideas For Men Looking For Something Beyond A Golf Trip *By James Hills — Updated June 2026* You and the same four guys have booked a golf trip every year for a decade, and the rotation is starting to feel predictable - new course, same weekend. The annual golf trip doesn't need to die, but it makes a better floor than a ceiling. These five getaways each hand the group a fresh reason to travel, and every one still leaves room to get a round in for the guys who get twitchy without a club in their hands. **Questions****How To Get Your Buddies Off The Golf Course****Article Index** ** No answer selected. Here's how to get buy-in without anyone feeling like they're missing their trip. - Sell it as golf plus, not golf instead - frame the new trip as adding to the tradition, with a tee time built in so the diehards still get their round. - Handle the holdout first - there's always one guy who only wants golf; give him the win by booking the course, and he stops blocking everyone else. - Pick a destination with an escape hatch - somewhere the group can split for an afternoon, golfers to the course and everyone else to the water or the tailgate. - Lock the dates before the debate - the trip that actually happens is the one with a deposit down, so agree on a weekend first and argue about the activity second. - Rotate who plans it - handing the itinerary to a different guy each year keeps the trip from going stale and spreads the work around. 1. [The Annual Golf Trip Was Just The Start](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/guys-getaway-ideas-for-men-looking-for-something-beyond-a-golf-trip.html#the-golf-trip-was-just-the-start) ## Cruise The Seas With Your Golf Buddies A cruise is the rare guys trip where nobody has to agree on a single plan - every port hands each guy his own set of options, and you all meet back at dinner. Shore days mean a fishing charter, a distillery tour, or a tee time, and back on board it's mostly included in the fare, right down to steak and shrimp every night if that's how you want to eat. The range is what makes it work for any group. You can run a 7-night Caribbean week with Carnival, step up to a Holland America Line sailing to Ensenada, Mexico, book an Alaska cruise, or go small-ship cruise exploring the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) and Hawaii with UnCruise. Golf is a non-issue at sea, which makes a cruise an easy sell even to the guy who only wants to play. British Isles sailings put the group a tender ride from Royal Portrush, which hosted the 2019 Open, or the Old Course at St Andrews - the kind of mancation the golf guys bring up for years - while Caribbean and Mexican itineraries stop near resort courses. The golfers book the excursion while everyone else hits the beach, and a [Caribbean rum cruise](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/bachelor-party-cruise-idea-caribbean-rum-distillery-tour.html) routed through working distilleries like Mount Gay in Barbados, distilling since 1703, and Appleton Estate in Jamaica means the non-golfers have a mission ashore of their own. ### Abu Dhabi Bachelor Party Ideas: Extreme Luxury And Adrenaline bachelor party ideas for luxury and style in Abu Dhabi ManTripping [Read More](https://ads.flowmediamarketing.com/go/TcRVvKgiUGxUo71Nf9-4ww.1108) ### Merrell Jungle Moc Review: The Perfect All-Purpose Shoe For On and Off The Cruise Ship Merrell Jungle Moc cruises: versatile slip-on comfort for Great Lakes exploration. Tandem skydiving is the headline act, and where you jump changes the whole experience - Skydive Arizona in Eloy is the biggest dropzone in the country, while a jump over Interlaken, Switzerland trades the desert for the Swiss Alps under your boots. For groups that prefer water to altitude, a surf-and-stay week in Tamarindo, Costa Rica swaps the freefall for dawn paddle-outs and the kind of sore shoulders that earn the evening beer, with jet skiing or paddleboarding to fill the afternoons. The point is matching the activity to the guys - not everyone needs to jump out of a plane to feel like they did something. ## Man Gear Pick of the Month September's Pick Amazon (affiliate) ### Kenyon City Grill Portable Stainless Steel Electric Grill Why we picked it: a grill you can actually carry to the campsite, the tailgate or the cabin without borrowing a truck. Book the jumps for day one and the guy who'd rather play gets his tee time on day two - the Scottsdale area alone packs in more than 200 courses. And if your friends pull in different directions, a broader [sporting vacation](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/active-man-vacation-ideas.html) lets each guy pick his own - golf, cycling, rock climbing, or a fitness bootcamp - out of the same base. ## Fishing For More Than Just Lost Balls Fishing is the easiest sell to a worn-out group - it's the one guys weekend where doing almost nothing still counts as the activity. The first call is what kind of fishing you're after - inshore flats for a relaxed day, or offshore deep-water trips for the fight and the better story back home. South Florida is where this one comes together. Islamorada in the Keys calls itself the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, and a half-day offshore charter out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Florida puts you on sailfish and mahi without a long run to the grounds - split four ways, it runs about what a round at a nice course costs each. Among Florida guys trips, this is the move when half the group brings the family: park them at the beach for the morning while the guys run the charter. Miami also settles the golf question. The Blue Monster at Trump National Doral and the public Crandon course on Key Biscayne fit a round in between charters. Whatever kind of [fishing trip](https://www.mantripping.com/fishing.html) you plan, match the charter and the gear to the species you're chasing - the captain will tell you straight what's biting and what to leave at home. ## Wild In The Wilderness ... Not The Rough Some trips add something; this one subtracts. A wilderness weekend strips it down to a fire, a cooler, and no cell signal, and how you camp sets the tone - backcountry means you carry everything and earn the quiet, while overlanding out of a truck bed lets you haul the good chairs, the cast iron, and a lot more beer. Gear is where guys overthink it, so keep it simple: a cold-weather bag rated below the lowest night you expect, and a tent that scales to how you travel. The Porcupine Mountains on Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin's Northwoods both pull off the remote fall trip without a cross-country flight. If the golfers need an out, basecamp somewhere with a course in town - Bend, Oregon and Pagosa Springs, Colorado both have resort golf close by, so the guys who'd rather play eighteen than hike a ridge can split off for the morning. A [guys weekend camping trip](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/ideas-for-your-next-guys-weekend-camping-trip.html) can run anywhere from glamping with a real bed to a backcountry haul, so set the comfort level before anyone packs. ## Hit The Road And Explore America Looking For Something New! A road trip hands the group total control - you go where you want, stop when you want, and the detours end up being what everyone remembers. The trick is a route with enough stops that nobody's stuck staring at cornfields for six hours straight. Chicago is one of the best launch points in the country for this. A [Midwest theme park road trip](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/midwest-theme-park-road-trip-from-chicago.html) loops through Cedar Point and a half-dozen serious coasters inside a five-hour radius, and a [Midwest NFL road trip](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/best-nfl-road-trips-from-chicago-midwest-football-weekends.html) puts Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Ford Field in Detroit, and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis within a day's drive for a fraction of a Bears ticket. Route the Green Bay leg through Kohler, Wisconsin and the group can play Whistling Straits, the public Pete Dye links along Lake Michigan that hosted the 2021 Ryder Cup, about an hour south of Lambeau. Rent something with room for the clubs and the cooler - an SUV makes sense when one trip mixes courses, stadiums, and the occasional gravel road. ## The Annual Golf Trip Was Just The Start The annual golf trip was never the problem - treating it as the only option was. Any one of these five gets the group somewhere new without walking away from the [golf weekend](https://www.mantripping.com/travel/top-florida-golf-resorts-for-a-guys-weekend.html) that started it, and the guys who live for the back nine still get their eighteen wherever you land. The hard part was never the destination - it's getting four stubborn friends to agree. That gets easier the year someone finally books something different, and the guy who only wanted golf is usually its loudest fan by the drive home. ### Solo Travel To Thailand What Men Need To Know Before Leaving Home Essential tips for solo male travelers heading to Thailand, from safety advice and cultural norms to top destinations and transport.
