Snickers and Lifesavers Game Day Treats

It's that time of year again - College Football is almost over and the pro's are getting ready for "The Big Game" so those of us who love to throw parties to go along with sporting events like this know that it's time for us to start practicing as well! Are you ready to go shopping with me and put together some recipes featuring SNICKERS®, Life-Savers®, and Skittles®? I think you'll like what we came up with!

Honestly, these are amazing snacks all by themselves but like any guy, I like to make things bigger, faster, sweeter, saltier, crunchier etc. So that's what I set out to do!

One thing that constantly amazes me about the candy industry is that there are so many different versions of your favorite brands and I've never tried gummy Life-Savers so I picked up a bag of those, a bag of Skittles (original flavor) since those are always good to have out in a bowl on the table.

Then I headed down to the other end and picked out a variety bag of SNICKERS minis and a Fun Size bag of classic SNICKERS to base my recipe on.

The final step was to get the all-time game day favorite snack that goes with everything ... pretzels.

Life-Savers First Down Treats

Ok this is ridiculously easy and solves one of the things I hate about serving un-wrapped items at parties. Instead of putting the Gummy Life-Savers out on a serving dish by itself, you can take those pretzel rods as use them like toothpicks to pick up the candy.

By putting the pretzels in the Life-Savers from the very beginning it also makes the display a bit more fun and exciting.

Plus, when you are done you can simply eat the pretzel for a bit of crunch!

Now it's time to get a bit more complicated!

I simply LOVE my SNICKERS ... it is possibly one of the greatest treats ever given to man by the gods and has all the flavors that make it the perfect football snack all by itself but that doesn't mean that you can't take things a step further by making it crunchier and saltier!

SNICKERS 3rd and Goal Treat Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 Bag of SNICKERS Fun Size

1 Bag of pretzel rods

1 Bag of pretzel mini-twists

Step One:

Take three of the pretzel rods and put a SNICKERS on top of it.

Step Three:

Put it in the oven on a cookie sheet with parchment paper (makes it much easier to pull off), for ~15-20 minutes at 175-200. Cooking time will differ based on your oven and cooking preference. For instance, the result will be much prettier for less time and less heat. However if you want it really melty and gooey then more time is needed.

Step Four:

Remove the tray from the oven and place a mini-twist on top while it is still soft and press down gently.

Depending on your preference, I placed the sheet outside to cool down a bit and solidify but you don't want it to freeze or the chocolate may discolor.

SNICKERS Two Point Conversion Treat Recipe

I was intrigued as to how the different flavors in the variety pack might taste and I was also excited that the minis fit perfectly on the mini-twist pretzels I got so I decided to create a 3rd recipe :)

Ingredients:

1 Variety Bag of SNICKERS Minis

1 Bag of pretzel rods

1 Sea Salt grinder

Step One:

Take the SNICKERS minis and place them on top of the pretzel mini-twists.

Step Four:

Remove the tray from the oven and salt as preferred.

Like above, how you serve it is ultimately up to you, but I recommend letting it cool down a bit to reduce the messiness of handling the treat with your fingers.

So there you have it - three awesome recipes to make your already favorite snacks even better!
