Features and Design of the Pinter Home Brew Kit

The Pinter home brew kit packs a punch with its sleek design. This all-in-one system brews and serves 10 pints of fresh beer. It's made from recycled plastic, making it 45% lighter than older models.

The kit comes with two brews to start, each yielding 10 pints. Users can follow easy steps with the companion app, which offers video guides and reminders. The Pinter costs $149, with brewing kits costing about $30 (they have seltzers, ciders, and beers). They also have a "plan" that is essentially a beer-of-the-month subscription that includes a free tasting glass and a new beer kit delivered every four weeks. Prices may vary depending on the current offer.

Brewing at home becomes simple with this compact system. The Pinter handles the whole process, from fermenting to serving. It's perfect for those who want to try making English ales or wheat beers without complex equipment. Plus honestly it's fun. I guess for some more experienced home brewers there are some advantages of higher-quality glass and metal equipment but most men who will be getting Pinter for a Christmas, Bachelor, or Graduation gift - it's more about the idea of having something quick and easy that can be brought out for parties and make other guys jealous.

The Brewing Process: How Easy Is It?

The Pinter Home Brew Kit makes beer brewing simple and fun. Users can create tasty brews with minimal effort and time.

  1. Easy setup: The kit comes with all the needed parts. Just clean and sanitize before use.
  2. Mix ingredients: Pour the malt extract into the Pinter. Add water and yeast as directed.
  3. Fermentation: Let the mix sit for 6 days. The yeast turns sugars into alcohol during this time.
  4. Conditioning: After fermentation, add hop oil for extra flavor. This step takes 2 days.
  5. Serving: Once ready, attach the tap and enjoy fresh beer at home.
  6. Batch size: Each brew makes 1 gallon of beer. This amount is perfect for small gatherings.
  7. Recipe options: Try different styles like pilsner, pale ales, or brown ale. Each has its own unique grain bill.
  8. Time-saving: No need for mashing or dry hopping. The kit does the hard work for you.
  9. Beginner-friendly: Clear brewing instructions guide you through each step.
  10. Consistent results: The kit ensures the right original gravity for each beer style.

Probably the most difficult - but also one of the MOST IMPORTANT - is properly sanitizing the vessel. You do NOT want to skimp on this part, but it can be difficult if you don't have a sink that is large enough.

Taste and Quality of the Final Product

I thought this was a very cool concept and frankly, I won't judge based on taste.

It should be very clear that anyone using Pinter to brew their first beer, cider, or seltzer is an amateur interested in exploring their passion for brewing. The first time we do anything, it's usually not going to be great. So, from that perspective, I'd have to say that my initial experience with Pinter was "Not Bad". This isn't a critique - just the reality that the compromises made to have a very easy to brew process lead to a product that isn't anything that I would give awards to.

It tastes good enough, was fun, and enjoyable to try something new so that's ultimately what matters.

Your local brewmaster shouldn't be worried that everyone is going to stop going out for a beer. I know that I will not stop going to my favorite craft breweries down the road - Maumee Bay Brewing and Earnest Brew Works here in Toledo and Silver Harbor Brewing Company and Watermark Brewing Co. in St Joseph, MI. However, I can say that during my time with Pinter, I sincerely enjoyed the experience and learning more about the process of making beer. It might even make me a better conoisseur since I have a better fundamental appreciation for the process of brewing beer.

Honestly, that's sorta the point of this product and why I think it makes a great gift for guys.

Ultimately, you gotta start somewhere. As someone who has bought winemaking equipment based on the advice of folks in "home winemaking groups", it becomes so complicated that I've never actually produced anything that's remotely drinkable. On the other hand, with Pinter the instructions, packaging, and equipment are all there for you and easy to create something that will give you something to toast with and share with your buddies.

That... is something that should not be dismissed, and so I really am glad that I had a chance to play with this product before investing money in more expensive home brewing gear, ingredients, and space!
