However, what it does have is an amazing collection of restaurants, bars, historic sites, music venues, and a heritage of hospitality that while evolved from it's days as the Capital of the Confederacy ... still exudes a strong sense of southern charm. At that time it was clear that this post-industrial city had the potential to be a great place to live. We just weren't in a position to be urban pioneers and take a risk. Richmond's status as one of the best food cities in the U.S. means you'll have plenty of options to choose from. Well that's not entirely true ... Richmond Raceway is less than 20 minutes from downtown, and its legacy as a half-mile dirt track, which originally opened in 1946, is obvious. While it has been expanded to .75 miles today, unlike the big modern speedways - Richmond Raceway is a tight track with great visibility and fabulous amenities for a group of guys - for instance a retirement party or [bachelor party](https://www.mantripping.com/bachelor-party-ideas.html).   ## Exciting Outdoor Activities Bursting with natural beauty and adventure opportunities, Richmond offers an abundance of exciting outdoor activities for you and your buddies to enjoy. Not only does it offer a buffet of awesome activities for a diverse group of men - it's also very easy to get to.  It's only 110 miles from Washignton, DC and 170 miles to Raliegh, North Carolina, making it an excellent road trip destination.
