Eating healthy never looked (or tasted) so good! This is a quick and easy alternative to a bowl of ice cream this summer, as well as being a great way to start your morning off right.
Bare Snacks sent me some of their Coconut and Banana Chips a while back to use on a road trip and they are absolutely delicious but they just launched a new line of Chia Coconut Bites with some great new flavors that taste great. Plus, frankly they look aesthetically great too so I had to create a recipe to feature them since it was too good to simply throw in my mouth as a snack all by itself!
Dragon Fruit Bowl Recipe
This recipe makes two bowls.
Ingredients:
- 2 frozen Dragon Fruit smoothie packs from Pitaya Plus
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/3 cup strawberries
- Strawberries, blueberries, and Bare Snacks Chia + Vanilla Coconut Chips
Preparation:
- Blend the smoothie packs, almond milk, and strawberries together.
- Pour into two bowls.
- Place sliced strawberries and Coconut Chips on top.
That's all there is to making a super healthy and beautiful breakfast (or anytime snack). It's also a great afternoon treat for those of you who are looking to maybe avoid ice cream or focus on healthy living since between the Chia and the Dragon Fruit you have tons of great nutrients.
Health Benefits of Pitaya (aka Dragon Fruit):
Dragon Fruit is rich in magnesium, iron, vitamin B1, B2, and B3 as well as vitamin C. It is also high in fiber and rich in antioxidants. This makes it an especially good "super food" for men since it can help decrease bad cholesterol and even replenish good cholesterol (though exercise is critical for that too!). With it's high level of antioxidants it also can help reduce wrinkles and reduce the likelihood of more developing by keeping the skin tight and healthy.
Health Benefits of Chia
Like Pitaya Dragon Fruit, Chia seeds are also packed with fiber and antioxidants to help keep your heart, digestive system, and skin happy and healthy. Additionally they are rich in polyunsaturated fats including Omega-3 fatty acids - as much as 60%, making them one of the best plant-based sources of them.
When you combine these two super foods with strawberries and blueberries, you have a trifecta (or maybe that's a quadfecta?) of healthy eating that will help you stay young and healthy.
Plus, it just looks great and it's fun to serve something called a "Dragon Fruit"!
