Escape the Cold with a visit to Miami's Jazz in the Gardens

Need an excuse to visit South Florida this spring?

No, I didn't think so but here's something to think about ... Jazz in the Gardens starts March 14 and features host D.L. Hughley and a cast of other celebrities including: LL Cool J, Jamie Foxx, Trey Songz, Kelly Rowland, Anthony Hamilton, Stanley Clarke, Rachelle Farrell and Boney James.

The City of Miami Gardens’ 9th annual Jazz in the Gardens music festival is an annual tradition in this young city - only incorporated 10 years ago but now the 3rd largest city in Miami-Dad County.

This year’s lineup is complete and includes LL Cool J, Jamie Foxx, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Trey Songz, Kelly Rowland, Mint Condition, Anthony Hamilton, Stanley Clarke, Rachelle Farrell and Boney James.


The festival also features more than 50 food vendors in Food Village and a wide array of gifts, collectables and crafts in Merchandise Village.

“During Jazz in the Gardens, we invite you to enjoy our vibrant community, from the beaches to the Everglades. You will find a warm welcome in Greater Fort Lauderdale, a top destination offering a cosmopolitan experience in a relaxed and accessible resort atmosphere,” said Albert Tucker, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Festival tickets only are on sale now at, the Sun Life Stadium Box Office, and Two day tickets start at $80, single day tickets start at $50 and advance purchase tickets for the Friday night opening party are $45.

A Day Aboard Costa Deliziosa

As a cruise ship junkie I was thrilled for the opportunity to spend even a few hours aboard a ship that normally doesn't operate in the United States. Costa Crociere is an Italian cruise line that while the first to operate in the Caribbean is now working to rise to the attention of the North American travel market. The Costa Deliziosa in particular does an annual around the world tour and that's why she happened to stop in San Diego and give us the opportunity to check her out.
